Liverpool is not just about the Beatles, football or wisecracks. It’s all these things - and none of them. It’s about being one of the most vibrant, life-affirming and creative cities in the UK. The Liverpool of today is a changed city. It’s emerging as one of the UK’s leading centres for learning, culture, entertainment, sport and endeavour. The award of European Capital of Culture 2008 has confirmed this - and the University is at the heart of it all.
University of Liverpool
As one of the first civic universities in the UK, the University of Liverpool is committed to the ‘advancement of learning and ennoblement of life’. It is a member of the Russell Group of research-led universities and is University of Liverpool renowned for their teaching and research excellence. As one of Merseyside’s largest employers, the University is a major source for innovation and plays a key role in the economic development of the region in terms of employment, skills, research and technology.
Master of Public Administration
The MPA is a well-established and highly-regarded programme of postgraduate training for employment in the public or voluntary sectors. It blends a traditional Masters level qualification with the practical skills needed for the distinctive contemporary public sector environment. As the new Institute of Public Policy and Practice is developing, we are redesigning the programme to draw on its cross-disciplinary nature and to make the content relevant to the emerging challenges facing public services across the world. In the meantime, while the redesign is on-going, EMPA Exchange students will be able to select from a wide range of modules from across the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and will study alongside other students, including those studying for an MBA or MSc, under the supervision of Dr Mike Rowe.
